Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday evening. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community had expressed sympathy for the star in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
