Dominant Aryna Sabalenka Claims Consecutive WTA Top Player Awards.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive season.
The 27-year-old captured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.
A Season of Dominance
Across the season, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.
In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.
Record-Breaking Achievements
Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in prize money.
She garnered almost 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.
Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a new level".
Other WTA Award Honorees
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking 13-month break following the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season.
- Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and climbing to the eighteenth spot.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five finals.
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third time.
